signs of gestational diabetes

I have 4 months baby now. During first semester i had not shown any signs, however, excessive hunger and thirst, excessive urination and vaginal infections were on and off. I had gained more weight during my pregnancy. My OBGYN said me this is the adverse effect of gestational diabetes. I came to know about my diabetes in my 2 screening.
It is important that all women be screened for gestational diabetes towards the end of the second trimester at around 24 to 28 weeks of their pregnancy.
