standards are different for kids and for adults. For adults, the ADA recommends an A1C of less 7.0%, but the goals for kids are higher, to reduce the risk of damage from hypoglycemia.

Age (years)
Blood glucose range (mg/dl)
Before meals Bedtime/overnight A1C

Toddlers and preschoolers (0–6) 100–180 110–200 <8.5% (but >7.5%)
School age (6–12) 90–180 100–180 <8%
Adolescents and young adults (13–19) 90–130 90–150 <7.5%

Thanks. I will regularly go for A1C. I understood this from my sons doctor that this simple blood test produces a number that correlates with your average blood glucose levels for the past 2 to 3 months. An A1C less that means the lower your risk for the serious complications of diabetes.
I am keen to take care of my sons diabetes.
