insulin insensitivity

I am very particular about my diabetes care, but after going off with work out on weekend and 2-3 drinks, I feel insulin insensitivity, is it OK :geek: , does anyone suffer the same as me.

My perceptive for work out is that it really affects your insulin sensitivity, so if you normally do exercise but stop for a while then I can tell you that you would need a little extra insulin to maintain your blood sugar while you aren't exercising.

It gets worse when its weekend. I can take 4-5 units for a 10 ' sub when working out, but when I take 2 days off I’m taking close to 10 units of novolog, it seems extra. I think my tolerance towards exercise had increased as well, because I seem to increase my workouts to get the same results.

To me the management of blood sugar is a harmony of diet/exercise/medicine. So if you decrease your exercise, you will have to increase your insulin.

I have been working on the back garden, and surprisingly have had to reduce morning and night time insulin doses along with my breakfast and dinner bolus dose. In addition to these I also increased my carbohydrate intake and still can observe the odd hypo in the glucose meter. This phase of adjustment of meal and insulin will go on as the garden work is ongoing.
