Infection of Hair Follicles & Diabetes

I have recently developed infection of hair follicles. Or atleast I think it is infection of hair follicles. My friend told me this is because of the diabetes. SO far I don’t have diabetes? Do you think this is symptoms of pre-diabetes?

Hi John,

I was doing some research on diabetes, because I think I have diabetes. I did read somewhere that if your hair follicles are infected you might have diabetes. I am going to take an appoint with a doctor for my diabetes test. I have a problem of frequent urination and I think I have diabetes.

Get it tested. best of luck.

Hi,
i notice a simple infection of hair follicles in my pubic area, this was soon after i began to stated growing hair in that zone. It feel itchy, red and sore.
i went to a doctor and she told me it was probably an infection of hair follicle. To relive my symptoms she gave me some cream for it (fucidine, i suppose). It is very much stressful to see that the cream she gave me helped suppress the itchiness but did not solve the problem.

This problem is terribly inconvenient and embarrassing and any help would be appreciated thanks.

Folicle infection may be superficial or deep within the skin. The commonest cause of hair follicle infection is staphylococcus aureus.
There can be number of reasons for it like –
1 Exposing skin to some commonly know chemical present in some cosmetics especially oils and tars, can trigger an outbreak.
2 Low immune power. People with depressed systems of immune, or a diabetic or obesity are associated with the risk of folliculitis over the general population.
3 Those who are suffering recurrently with folliculitis or unresponsive folliculitis need special test to investigate the source. It had been seen that the streptococcus bacteria had home in the patient nostrils and periodically responsible to trigger the infection outbreak.
The best home remedy for it is that you need to maintain high level of personal hygiene plus prescribed antibiotics. A tropical gel is available in the market to apply on the nostrils daily twice for specific period. Please do ask for this to your doctor.

I think some stubborn cases of folliculitis have been responsive to laser-assisted hair removal. This process uses a laser to destroy the follicle. This reduces the scarring that results from folliculitis.
Do consider this, if thinking to go for bikini wax.

Some bacterial infections, fungal infections, and itching along with few skin problems happen mostly or only to people with diabetes. These include diabetic dermopathy, necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum, diabetic blisters, and eruptive xanthomatosis.

 Check with your doctor, if you are diabetic?
