Good news for prediabetics.

It had been recently concluded from a study that vitamin K taken in higher doses slow down the progression of diabetes. It actually reduce the speed of Insulin resistance phenomenon which is consider as a major precursor to type 2 diabetes.

I think that is not yet concluded as that result proved to be positive only for men with diabetes.
They think that the reason why vitamin K fails to show it affect on women is they tend to be more overweight than the men. There are many fatty tissues in women which capture vitamin K,(vitamin K is fat soluble) and makes it difficult for the cells to get access over it for metabolizing glucose.

It is stated in the study that 500 mcg of vitamin K daily, which is five times the dose recommended by the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine.
This study was carried out for 3 years, you can check your insulin resistance test or A1c test every 6 months.
If results are good keep on continuing it. :P
