Do you know What is 1.5 diabetes?

This is in between phase of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It is known as Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults. Most similar to type 1 diabetes, type 1.5 diabetes causes the body to slowly lose its ability to produce insulin and is characterized by adult onset.
Are you aware that about 10 % of cases with type 1.5 diabetes are misdiagnosed as Type 2 Diabetes. The reason behind it is 1.5 are generally diagnoses after 25 years and their body tend to respond the oral treatment well in the beginning, which does not fit the usual criteria for type 1 diabetes.

The other cause for diabetes in thin people which is genetically induced is MODY,(Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young.) Six genes are involved for the MODY, one thing in common is they are "monogenic" which means that only one copy of gene if inherited by you is sufficient to show diabetes in you.
MODY forms of diabetes are believed to affect around 2% of all people diagnosed with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
MODY 3 is most commonly seen. Symptoms of MODY includes insulin levels low than normal and is mostly associated with strong family history. There is no absolute deficiency of insulin hence it usually responds well to oral hyperglycemic drugs.

I am interested to know about how is 1.5 diagnosed. Is there some similar similar symptoms as od diabetes, and how to read test results? I am wondering if that is why I am having a hard time getting a good diagnosis.

I think there are series of 6 expensive genetic tests. This lab test is completed on patients who may appear to have type 2 diabetes, but have two or more of the following characteristics:

Age more than 25 or less than 50 years,
Acute hyperglycemia,
BMI >25,
personal and family history of autoimmune disorder.

Symptoms for type 1.5 diabetes are same as the other two. Say increased thirst, increased urination, weight loss and blurred vision.

From a survey done last year it was found that 1.5 diabetes treatment starts later even after diagnosis. However, recent studies have shown that it may be beneficial to start insulin treatment immediately upon diagnosis to retard destruction of the insulin-producing cells. Some doctors try to control it with or without drugs as they think to avoid the dependency on insulin. Immediate starting of insulin reduce the destruction of the beta cells.
1.5 can also be successfully treated initially with sulfonylureas to assist the pancreas with insulin production.

I am wondering that is the same type of drug used for the treatment of 1.5?

To tell you frankly, I don't know much about medication but have that a patient a patient of 1.5 treated with type 2 medicines only can drag him to diabetic ketoacidosis.
Diabetic ketoacidosis is a life-threatening condition where a person's blood sugar reaches extremely high levels and the body begins to break down fat for energy which produces toxins called ketones.

Early diagnosis and correct treatment not only maintain glycemic range, furthermore it also avoid the future complication of organs like heart disease, kidney failure, nerve damage and retina damage.
