Diabetes Insurance

I currently have HMO insurance, through by job. I think I have a diabetes. If I quit my job, will I be able to get private insurance, if so how much will it cost?

I know my neighbors family with nine children.
The mom is diabetic. It is very disappointing to say that the family cannot get a package insurance, because of the mom.

Their only option is to get a local government job that comes with insurance for the entire family.
If you had no job please go for medi cal, it is state govt free medical insurance.

It seems pretty impossible to get an insurance coverage with pre existing diabetes. On the other side newly diagnosed patients with already having insurance have awful story. It is my experience that the phone hung up as many times as you cal the insurance company to ask them about the insurance claim you had filed. It is an unfortunate thing, but that's just the way the system is right now.
Especially few small company turn away by claiming that it was pre-existing disease and they will not pay for it. If you have insurance with some reputed company they might not do the same way.

It is a disgrace that diabetics who are not currently insured have to take a job that sucks, just so they can get insurance.

I think we can get benefit from a new administration coming next year.
I know that new elect president obama is motivated towards health insurance.
In his speech during election he was talking more about the health insurance, hope he stay with his promises. :D

SORRY TO INTERRUPT!

Please help me. I don't know what to do now
When I was diagnosed last month the diabetic educator that gave me my meter called and found out that my insurance required me to go through Byram Healthcare if I wanted to do mail order for my testing supplies. Yesterday I get a statement that shows it has not been paid by my insurance. So I call them and am informed that my insurance company doesn't cover ANY diabetic testing supplies. How stupid is that. They told me that I have to file an appeal. I left a message at the corporate headquarters of my DH job with the person in charge of insurance stuff and hope to hear from her soon. But this is ridiculous. I can't afford to test very often if I am buying all of the supplies out of pocket. I expected maybe to pay for some, because I test often now, but all of it. That is over $400 every 3 months. I'm upset, and I am confused, and just flat angry. I don't know how to go forward with the appeal if I need to. This is soo stupid. They really don't want us to get better do they?

So any advice in this situation would be VERY appreciated. I am so glad you are all here.
