Common Diabetes medicines and drug

Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent heart disease, strokes, kidney disease, blindness, and circulation problems, as well as sexual function problems.
Some oral medicine are prescribe when there is a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. There basic function is to maintain body's proper response to insulin, thereby lowering your blood sugar.


Actos oral - Pioglitazone or Gilatazones belongs to Thizolidinedione .
Amaryl oral – Glimepiride, Diabinese oral – Chlorpropamide, Glucotrol oral – Glipizide, Glynase oral – Glyburide, Micronase oral - Glyburide, Tolinase oral – Tolazamine. These all belongs to Sulfonylurea.

The combination medication is used along with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. Its function is to restore body’s proper response to the insulin which is naturally produced.

Ex: - Avandaryl oral (drugs rosiglitazone and glimepiride)
Glucovance oral (drugs glyburide and metformin)
Metaglip oral (glipizide and metformin)

Some other are:-
Byetta SubQ - Exenatide, prescribe along with other oral diabetes medications (e.g., metformin, chlorpropamide, glipizide, glyburide).
Januvia oral - Sitagliptin, prescribe along with other oral medications (e.g., metformin, rosiglitazone, pioglitazone).
Precose oral – Acarbose breaks carbohydrate into sugar, to maintain blood glucose after meal.
Riomet oral - Metformin reduce the amount of sugar that your liver makes and that your stomach/intestines absorb.
Xenial oral is prescribed by doctor in some cases for reduced-calorie diet, exercise, and behavior modification program to overweight (obese) persons lose weight.
