Concentrated sweets vs carbohydrates, that is the issue here. This gentleman, in my care as far as his meals are concerned, loves bread. he also has a large appetite, and sometimes eats as many as 5 slices of toast. Not good at all as far as carbohydrates. any suggestions to types of bread alternatives.

I would like to add something....A person with Diabetes has to make sure his caloric intake should not exceed his requirement and calories should also be distributed evenly throughout the day. A protein-rich snack preferably a cup of milk without sugar should be taken as a bedtime snack as studies have shown that it helps prevent hypoglycemia that usually occurs in patients at night.

The fact says if you are suffering from diabetes, all your near and dear ones continuously warn you not to have sweets in your diet. Contrary to popular belief, scientific studies confirmed that sweets may not produce any harm if it can be used in a balanced amount in the meal plan. Although, different sweets affect blood sugar level in a varied fashion, but the total carbohydrate count matters the most. If you consider a small amount of sweets in your overall diabetic diet plan, it will not harm your health.

It is a good guide line for diet of diabetics. Usually people do not split their meals and do not give importance to fresh fruits and vegetables. You have also given amphesis on diet rich in fibers and clearly instructed to cut baked food which is rich in calories.cokes also be denied as well as hard drinks.
